With Heartfelt Sympathy

Hello there.  I hope you had a fabulous weekend.  Ours was busy with the start of the baseball season and show choir rehearsals.  I also spent the afternoon at Hospice with my mum visiting one of her very best friend's daughter.  Betty's (my mum's friend for over 49 years) daughter, Jennifer, suffered a stroke last weekend.  Unfortunately, Jennifer is not going to recover.  It is the wrong life order to watch your child die.  At the same time, visiting with Betty, Jennifer, and Betty's son and daughter-in-law was very comforting.  There is something about a long time caring friend that knows so much about you and loves you so much that provides comfort.  My mum and Betty are very blessed to have one another.  Despite being a hard day, it was a very good day.  My wish is that Jennifer finds peace in heaven soon.

The card above is for one of my mum's friends who lost her brother to cancer this week.  She loves birds, so I wanted to make a clean sympathy card featuring a bird.  I'm entering this over at the One Layer Simplicity Challenge.

Oh Lynn this is so sad but good that you are all there for support.
This card is so elegant and subtle. I love that cardstock (I think I always say that when you use it!). The natural twine matches it perfectly. Hope you are doing o.k today x

Your card is very soft and serene! Very sorry to hear about the sad news though. My mom had just told me yesterday that one of her best friend's daughter (my age) is diagnosed with lung cancer (late stage and cannot operate). You're right Lynn, these are the wrong life orders! :(

This is such a beautifully simply card, Lynn, that I'm sure will be a comfort to the recipient. While it is difficult to know the end is near, having family and friends around it so comforting.

How beautiful and sad it is to read about friends coming together in difficult times, supporting one another in quiet love. Thank you for sharing that with us.

The sympathy card is beautiful, too. So soft and pretty, and beautifully designed, too. The twine "ground" for the bird is the perfect touch. Thanks so much for playing the One-Layer Simplicity Challenge with such a lovely card!
