It has been absolutely ages since I've played along at the Play Date Cafe. Way too long in fact as I always love their color challenges. I changed that Friday night...I was in need of a birthday card for my niece, Elizabeth, who is turning 18 on Tuesday. Time does flies...and in just a few short months she'll be off to Ohio State to study engineering. Anyways...I wanted a cheery card for her. Green is her favorite color (not pink :)!)...so I tried to pull out the green more than the other two colors. she immediately commented that she loves green when she opened up the card and the shirt I got her from Anthropology so I was pleased!
Our whole family minus Ryan who was at a show choir competition and Madeleine who is interning in Alaska got together last night. At some point when we were eating dinner we started figured out who could do what weird things:

- Winking with either eye...just about all of us can do that except Marcel.
- Wiggling your ears (my dad was able to do this); Cindy, Elizabeth and Olivia
- Rolling your tongue (just about all of us, but not my mum)
- Twisting your tongue - Olivia and Elizabeth (and maybe Cindy)
- Doing a thing with her tongue that looks like a snake (only Olivia)

ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job with the colors Lynn! Just beautiful!
Have a great week!
OK, so I've just has Chris in hysterics as I've curled up on the sofa trying to do those things unaware that I was being watched!!! (I can do all but the snake one BTW!)
ReplyDeleteOh what a fab aunty you are: as a lover of green, I reckon you got the card spot on & the present sounds gorgeous too!
Hugs!

Beautiful card Lynn! Love the colors together!
ReplyDeleteThat is so fun seeing what weird things everyone can do! :)
I love when things like that happen during a family gathering - so fun!
ReplyDeleteYour card for Elizabeth is so pretty, Lynn! Of course I adore the pink and green combo! :)
Love the card - perfect for an 18 year old. And I love that she's going to study engineering - when I graduated high school, I thought engineers drove trains and didn't know any different until I got to university and started dating engineering students (but that's another story!). I would have studied harder in physics if I had known! Happy Birthday Elizabeth, and go show those boys how it's done!
ReplyDeleteThese colors don't speak to me, but love your take on them.... the yellow brad/dot is perfect.
ReplyDeleteYour cards sings spring!
ReplyDeleteMy niece turns 18 this saturday...time does fly!
I bet dinner time is so much fun at your house!
Booooo to spammers.
Absolutely beautiful, fresh and fun!
ReplyDeleteA girl after my own heart - green is my favorite colour too :) Love that Verve flower and the rows of gifts in the BG is too cute :) Sure she loved it.
ReplyDeleteGiggled at all the tongue antics too. Can't roll my tongue for the life of me but everyone else in the family can. Son can triple roll his even! My claim to fame - I can touch the tip of my nose with my tongue.
Just beautiful Lynn, makes me wish for spring!
ReplyDeleteThe multi coloured stamped presents are fun Lynn, lovely combo of colours :)
ReplyDeleteso adorable lynn. i love the bright happy colors.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I can do #s 1, 2 and 3 on your list! What a fun night that must have been! :)
ReplyDeleteSweet card - love the rows of pressies in the background!
A fun family night. Love the colour combo. Such a pretty, fresh palette. Will have to keep the presents background stamp idea tucked away. Looks great
ReplyDeleteA perfect card for Elizabeth! So pretty! I am sure your niece will love it!
ReplyDeleteLove how our used the yellow as the base and this is a really cheery card! Makes me wasn't to publish out those dies. And what about following the stomach, doesn't Mark do that like Rob and the Donold duck voice!!
ReplyDeleteShe'll love it to bits! LOVE this springy palette!
ReplyDeleteI had to do the same thing with my commenting. Those advertisers will do anything to get the word out... even spoil things for innocent bystanders. Sigh.
Love that big, bold flower with the yellow center! You did a great job pulling out the greens, and how cute are those rows of packages?
ReplyDeletethose little stamped presents are so cute!
