Thoughts on Coaching and a Card

I have lots to chat about this evening, first up:

Thoughts on Coaching
We are getting ready to start another baseball season with our boys.  Three out of four boys are playing this year so we'll be spending lots of time at the baseball fields.  Pat has all the uniforms and equipment bags ready to go for the 70 or so Little League teams in our community.  I love this time of year!

With this time of year comes the opportunity for a coach to positively influence a child.  And what a priviledge it is to be able to coach a child.  In our community, we have a young boy named Gabe who wears braces on his legs.  I don't know why Gabe has leg braces, nor does it matter.  What matters is that Gabe has been blessed to have baseball coaches that didn't look at his braces but looked at him as a boy who wanted to learn the game of baseball.  Take a look at this video.

Our Little League community has decided to share the attached video with every coach and assistant coach that will coach in our community this year.  This video puts tears in my eyes.  As a coach and a parent, we need the reminder that coaching isn't about always winning. Coaching is about believing in our children.  Believing that if we give them a chance they will amaze us.  If we believe in them, they will believe in themselves.  Here's to hoping there are lots of coaches like Gabe's throughout our communities coaching our children.  And a big thank you to our Little League for talking with our coaches about what we want for our children.  Believe in them whether they've ever stepped up to the plate 100 times or zero times.  With your belief in each child, they will amaze you.

And a Card...
for the current PTI anniversary challenge.   Hope you have a wonderful evening!

Lynn, what a beautiful post! You and your hubby must be so loved, by so many, in your community. It's attitudes and beliefs like yours that build a strong sense of self for the kids your hubby coaches. They are all lucky to have you both in their lives! Love your pretty card with my fave colors! Hugs to you! :)

Wonderful card! The strip of butterflies is sweet! Like the gems, too!
What an incredible video and powerful quote at the end. It really moved me to encourage others (and myself) to see the full potential in people regardless of appearance and diabilities. Thanks for sharing it!

Really gorgeous colors on your card! That is a lovely pink card stock! I have the hardest time finding pink CS that I like. I'm so with you on your graceful thoughts today. People always judge you on the outside when you hav any type of disability whether it be physical, mental, or developmental. You never know what strengths they have until you get to know the child! Such an inspiring story!

The video wasn't working very well for me, but I LOVE this! I bet Gabe teaches more to the people who are lucky enough to cross his path than anyone could ever teach him. Thank you for sharing! And your card is beautiful! I adore that multi-colored row of butterflies!
