Confessions of the Easter Bunny

Ingredients:  Patterned Paper:  My Mind's Eye; Hero Arts Lace Trim; Ink:  SU Baja Breeze; Pacific Point, So Saffron and More than Mustard; Verve Blessings Stamp; PTI Larger than Life

Before I get to my subject line, I'm popping into share a card for the current Embellish Challenge.  It has been a really long time since I've played along with one of the challenges.  I really adore them.  I used my PTI Larger than Life set and matching dies.  I had to have the dies, but candidly haven't used them too much, so it was time to break them out!  Unfortunately, this sympathy card is already in the mail for one of my co-workers who lost their mom to cancer after a long battle with lung cancer.

Now onto the title of my post.  Here it is…I am not a good Easter Bunny.

Rewind:  Spring 2010: Pat and I went out shopping last year a few days before Easter and picked up a some goodies for the boys Easter baskets. Needless to say, we forgot to bring them in from my van. Fast forward a few hours and we’re telling all the boys to get in the car to go out for dinner. We then come outside and they are literally pilfering through the Target bags. So what do we do? Not so gracefully say…oh sometimes the Easter bunny needs a helper and hope they forget what they saw when they get their Easter baskets a few days later.

Fast forward: Spring 2011:

Last week: As Easter approaches, Collin and I have been talking a lot about Good Friday, Easter, etc. Interwoven into these conversations, “Mommy, remember the silly Easter bunny from last year when he left our treats in your car? Wasn’t that so silly?”  I just smile...

This week: Some mommy has picked up a few little Lego packets. They just may or may not be from the Easter bunny. A sweet little boy named Marcel happens to see a yellow Lego bag in the closet that is rarely opened (even if it does contain the vacuum…no comments please). Last night I come home from work and Marcel takes my hand, “MOMMY, COME HERE….I HAVE TO SHOW YOU SOMETHING!” I quickly diverted him and told them they were a surprise. I had given him one at a baseball game to keep him occupied (since he gets to go to the games of his three older brothers and not play yet). He hasn’t thought about the Easter bunny but is now asking when the next baseball game is…and was very disappointed when we didn't go to Jonathon's game today.

I think this Easter Bunny needs to go back to Easter Bunny 101 school!

PS  Let me know what your best hiding spot is for the Easter Bunny and Santa...

LOL! I would imagine with 4 curious boys there is no fool-proof hiding place in your house!! Perhaps all Easter/Christmas supplies need to hide in your office at work...
Gorgeous card - love those stamps and dies! Sorry you had to put it to use so quickly though.

Oh this post made me laugh.. I can so remember when the kids were young and going thru similar situations.
I have no real good hiding places...they were all discovered. Thanks for making me remember...
Happy Easter to some lucky little guys.

First off, I miss you tons--looking forward to Monday! Now, I am laughing so hard at your EB story! I too have had so many close calls lately. This Christmas I hid everything right in front of them! In the garage, on a shelf we have 3 huge rubbermaid totes that we store Chirstmas lights in. I took one of those and just kept adding to it after each shopping trip--then when I went to wrap, it was all in one place!!!! Sometimes the best place is right in front of their face!!!

How funny, Lynn! I usually used the trunk of my car. There were also times that I actually took "Santa's" gifts over to my mom's house and would pick them up from her on Christmas Eve. I wish I had more clever places to help you out! Have fun on Easter with your boys and please share photos!

Beautiful card! Like the colors and the lace.
My best hiding places...my craft stash (no one looks there!) and in our empty stored luggage.

What a lovely card looking at the stamping I thought to myself I hope she has the matching dies, could you imagine cutting it out by hand? Your Easter bunny story made me laugh! At least you remember to buy something one year I think I forgot to leave something from the Easter bunny when my daughter was 3 even though we gave her something a few days later in her sweet little voice she asks "Why didn't the Easter bunny come here??" Opps! We quickly bought more chocolate and told her he got lost in the snow that was still out that year!

Your family's bunny must be my family's bunny too as it sounds like he has the same antics! Lovely card!

oh, this is hilarious!! It's amazing what stories we can come up with quickly! LOL I remember when one of my nephews found out about the Easter Bunny...he was quite disgusted with his parents and said, "I guess you're the tooth fairy too!" lol....yes, we were on the same wavelength yesterday!! How weird was that! LOL Have a fabulous weekend with all the family!!

oh, I forgot to say how much I loved the card!! Aren't these perfect colours for a sympathy card?

I got caught being the tooth fairy not too long ago and Shelby who is almost 13 was so mad at me. She pouted for a while in her room and then came downstairs and said "I guess the Easter Bunny and Santa are really you as well". She was furious with me for a long time and I was afraid she would tell her younger sister but so far she hasn't. I love that they believe and I think I enjoy it as much as they do. Your card is gorgeous, you nailed the challenge for sure! Easter blessings to you and yours!

LOL, Lynn, I think you're going to have to start wrapping your Easter gifts in something really feminine, something they'd never want to look in?!

I love your beautiful card for a very sad occasion. Those dies look amazing. I'm sure your co-worker loved it.

Those colors for the Embellish challenge this week are beautiful... and you used them beautifully on your lovely sympathy card. As for hiding places, mine has always been in my walk-in closet which is so messy that even I don't like to go in there. But, I wasn't a good Easter Bunny or Santa either. Our daughter figured it out when she was 3 (?!?)... after receiving her Easter goodies, she just looked at me and said, "There is no Easter bunny, is there? It's just you and daddy pretending." Then she said, "There's no Santa either, is there?" Smart girl... the next trick was to keep her quiet so she didn't ruin the surprises for her brother and every child in the neighborhood! (Fortunately, she liked being in on an adult secret, so she did pretty well...)

A beautiful card, Lynn. I love how you worked the colors into a sympathy card, which I never would have thought of doing. Thanks so much for joining us at Embellish!
