I mentioned earlier this week that we'll be celebrating my brother Neal's 50th birthday on Saturday. Hard to believe he's 50...he certainly doesn't look 50! This card is a reminder for the current Time Out Challenge to make a birthday card with an optional twist of making a masculine birthday card. The perfect challenge for me to make Neal's card! The current Retro Sketches challenge is an awesome challenge to use up some of your patterned paper. I love the sketch and always struggle with where to play my enamel elements so the sketch already having them placed definitely helped me out!
And here's a good little lesson for us all!
This is so stylish! I love the papers you chose.
ReplyDeleteGreat card Lynn. Perfect take on the sketch and I agree about where to place the enamel dots. Hope all is well.
ReplyDeleteOne of my brother's turns 50 this year too! Luckily I'm the baby of the family (wink). Your card is perfect! LOVE the quote.
ReplyDeleteLove those papers, Lynn! The patterns and colors are wonderful! Beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, I'm loving the quotes you're sharing with us!
These are awesome papers, Lynn! Great take on the sketch! Love the quotes you are sharing too!
ReplyDeleteSuch a handsome "guy" card Lynn! I love the angles! My brother turned 50 last year. I'm still having a hard time believing it :D
ReplyDeleteanother great quote...can I add "and a glass of wine" to it? LOL I just LOVE the use of patterned paper here! Yes, a great way to use it up! I'm going to have to go through mine soon and get ready for our annual community garage sale. It's a professional development day here and although my staff gets it off in lieu of pro d we did last summer, I'm going to a workshop I want to see...at least it's a rainy sort of day here so it won't be so bad! ox
ReplyDeleteAint that the truth! I keep trying to get more sleep! love your card with the angled papers Lynn - this is a great masculine design!
ReplyDeleteAmen to that quote, especially the sleep part for me LOL! Grouchy mama bear when she doesn't have enough sleep ;) Darling card and a great use of the sketch. Sure your brother will love it. Happy 50th to him. Can tell him I've broken the fifties in and they are pretty good :)
ReplyDeleteAnd today I have had both, just woke up from a long nap after touring London with Kylie! Great way to use DSP x
ReplyDeleteWho would have ever thought that sequins and enamel dots actually has to be placed! It is so true, I always change them around and around until it just feels right. Fabulous masculine card and I love how you used this sentiment as a stand alone without the 'shocker' stamp!
ReplyDeleteGreat take on the sketch and wonderful masculine card!! I'm like you, Lynn, I spend waaaay too much time trying to decide where to place my dots lol!
ReplyDeleteLove the color combination, Lynn.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful selection of patterns!
ReplyDeleteGreat birthday card for your brother! Love the combination of papers you chose. It has me inspired to CASE it!! Happy Easter to you and your wonderful family!
ReplyDeleteOooo! What a fabulous design! LOVE your combination of papers, too! Yum!
