Oh I had an awesome weekend...lots of relaxation...including my college roommate visiting, going to see our newly built headquarters for work and my alma mater making it to the Sweet 16 for March Madness. An all around great weekend! The weekend ended with me getting some inky time in as well. This card features the technique Jennifer McGuire showed us on Friday. I stamped the geometric background in white on the card base and then stamped over it creating the touch of texture on the large PaperSmooches blooms. Love this effect. I have to tell on myself too...I knew the class I was taking was a clean and simple class but didn't realize it was a one layer CAS class. I love one layer cards, but wasn't really keeping them one layer when I played along with the techniques...woops...good thing I'm not submitting these for a grade as I wouldn't do well on the attention to detail! No worries though..I've loved the class!
Now...all of you know you how proud I am of my boys and my nieces and nephews. My niece, Olivia, sang in front of her entire sixth grade class on Friday (over 350 people!). She is so talented! I couldn't make it, but thankfully my sister-in-law sent the video. Click here to see how amazing she sounds!
Okay: quick question, with Archiver's closing I don't have a quick stop to go by adhesive. Today I used Scrapbook Adhesives for my tape runners. What do you use? What do you love for your adhesives? I'd love to hear your opinions as I will likely order on-line now.
I hope your week gets off to a great start!
Love your card (one layer or not!)! I use Scrapbook Adhesives too. That's really the only one I ever use and have used it for years. It now comes in a refillable version. I buy it at JoAnn's and use a coupon. Your niece was awesome, as was the girl accompanying her!
ReplyDeleteLOL! The definition of "one-layer" in this class is very broad - I redefined for myself as "flat". :-) I think all of your cards fit this definition just fine! This card is so pretty! Now I'm going to go and listen to your niece. :-)
ReplyDeleteOlivia and her friend were wonderful! You have a very talented family, Lynn! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love that song! She did it so well!
ReplyDeleteLove your card too... beautiful soft peachy flowers!
Love your card! I am a little behind on class videos but I can't wait to try this technique. I use scrapbookpal.com for adhesive. Good prices, free shipping on $25 and quick turn-around times makes them my adhesive supplier of choice!
ReplyDeletesounds like it was a weekend you were in need of! I love this technique, what a cool way to get texture. Will have to check the video later x
ReplyDeleteCan you believe everyone is still sleeping so I'll have to view the video later. LOVE your card and that technique! I'll have to give that a try!
ReplyDeleteadhesive? I use my Scotch ATG...love it {and it's pink!}. I use to buy it in 'bulk' online but can't remember which one of those sites it was...probably flowers to flourishes but I don't subscribe to the emails anymore because, well, I bought too much. So I just used my 40% off M's coupon to pick up another box of the refills {along with a bunch of other stuff..ugh}.
I love the ATG for it's size...it can't get lost on my work top! haha..but seriously, it's true. I'm always losing my scor tape and quickie glue pen.
Beautiful card, Lynn! Love this technique!
ReplyDeleteI use Penwa for Tombo adhesive refills. Off to watch your niece now. :)
Love this card and such a gorgeous voice! Way to go, Olivia! I'm like Amy, I use my Scotch ATG primarily and somehow I still manage to lose it under my piles of scraps etc on my desk. I guess I'm just a messy creator. Ha ha! I love how once I've stuck something down, I know it isn't going anywhere. I've used one to many adhesives that didn't hold worth a crud.
ReplyDeleteWow! Olivia sounded amazing, Lynn! She has a beautiful voice!
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty card! The technique turned out perfect and I love that color! ♥
Very lovely card Lynn!
ReplyDeleteI like the little effect that the lines achieve! Great card! Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful Lynn! I love the technique you used on the flowers! As for adhesive, I use an Advanced Tape Glider by Scotch. It's kind of big and takes a bit of getting used to, but I love it!
ReplyDeleteScotch adhesive dot roller is my favorite adhesive (red). It holds well but is forgiving enough to allow you to lift an item if it isn't positioned just as you would like. Since the adhesive is in dots rather than strips it can be applied to small items or ribbon and only covers the item, the excess dots around the piece can be rubbed away. I purchase mine through Amazon and order enough for free shipping, plus it's less expensive than the store.
ReplyDeleteWonderful card. I am still behind by several days in that class, so I would be right there with you in the 'bad grades' section. It seems to me that they have defined the card as 'flat' but not truly one layer. Either way, this one is a winner. Checked out your niece--fantastic--American Idol better watch out. I use Scotch photo splits and the Scotch adhesive dots runner for most of my normal cards. Marybeth gave me the worlds biggest roll of foam tape 2 years ago, and I am still working my way through it. I love the little dimension dots that Deanna sells at her etsy store for just a touch of dimension, and scor tape for my super duper needs. And, don't get me started on the liquids. I guess you could say I have a lot of different adhesives. Bought and returned the ATG gun because it was too difficult for me to load and use.
ReplyDeleteSo many wows today. Your niece is fantastic--what talent for such a young girl! Lynn I am with you loving one layer cards and found it crazy to be adding so much to my cards! So many things to try but didn't have the time. Your card is so so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful card. Love it. A huge congrats to your niece too! Since I sound like I'm singing in a bucket, I'll live vicariously through her LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised…your whole family is so talented and I love how they are talented in different things! I think Pat needs to start a family band! What a cool technique, a little different from stamping another stamp on an inked stamp. I use tombow tape runners from Michaels and my foam tape from the Dollar Store! Ordering online is a great idea though, with free shipping :) So glad you had a fun and relaxing weekend :)
ReplyDeleteLove this card, Lynn, so cheerful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful !!
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this card! It's perfect!
ReplyDeleteFor adhesive, I like Tombow's dot n roller tape runner.
Wow, I love this look! The big bold flowers look amazing paired with the geometric background. Very inspiring work, Lynn! xx
