Our Bedtime/Morning Routine

When I started this blog, I wanted to use it as a way to capture those every day moments with our family that make me smile.  One of those moments is the bedtime routine I have with Marcel.  Marcel and Collin share a room and most nights Marcel makes his way straight up to bed, but Collin requires quite a few reminders to brush his teeth, get his jammies on and get in bed :)  Once they are there, I'm not always in the most patient mood (yes this is an area for me to improve), but what I do once they are in bed is always consistent.  An I love you, a kiss and a butterfly kiss on their cheek. There is always competition about who gets the kisses first and if I give an extra to one there has to be an extra for the other.  And then the conversation goes like this:
Marcel:  "Mommy, remember give me a kiss and a butterfly kiss before you go to work tomorrow. And don't forget."
Me:  "Okay buddy, I won't forget."
And then in the morning when I do kiss them...he may or may not even move from his sound sleep, but if he does, this is our routine.
Me:  "I love you Marcel. I'll see you tonight after work."
Marcel:  "Okay mommy, I'll see you tomorrow."
I love how little kids have no sense of time...to him, dinner time is tomorrow.  So sweet...and he is so consistent...every single night I get my reminder to kiss him in the morning.  I'll be so sad when he outgrows this sweet little routine.  May he always want my kisses!

And here's a card to share with you today.  This card is for the Gingham Challenge over at Moxie Fab.  The crocheted flower is one I made.  Don't look super close, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned off.  Crocheting was one of the things my nana taught me to do when I visited her last month. I have to get the crochet needles out again soon so that I don't forget!

Love hearing stories about your little one, Lynn! I miss those days, although all my boys still like a smooch from their momma every day. :)

Your card is simply beautiful! Lucky you have someone that can *show* you how to crochet - videos are just not the same!

Way to go with the crochet flower! It looks fantastic! Love those hexagons, too.
Doesn't it melt your heart to get those kisses from your boys? My little guy is such a sweetheart and always wants his hug and kiss at bedtime, and lots of other times during the day. I hope they don't outgrow them too soon!

I think your crochet flower rocks! I so want to learn, but I don't think my brain can handle one more form of media. LOL! Your card is so soft and feminine and absolutely perfect!

And your sweet story about your boys is priceless. Have Pat take a picture of that one, and get it in the scrapbook, girl ;). Hugs!

that is a sweet routine...this is such a great age...moments to treasure :) I do remember how Collin would come out after bedtime and how Jonathon said to me that he always does that (rolling his eyes!). LOL That flower is just fabulous! Now you have to teach me that AND the Cricut! Book that trip!

Gorgeous CAS card, Lynn - love the hexagons and pretty pink shades!

Sweet story too - we have to cherish those special routines! I remember, as my boys grew older and I was worried they'd stop giving me hugs, I used to ask them, "Promise you'll still hug me when you're 18, 20, 22?" I'm happy to say, at ages 17 and 21, they DO still give me hugs, even though I usually have to ask first! :)
