Hi Ya! Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day to you and your family!  I'm hoping today is a restful relaxing day spend with family and friends with time to remember those that we have lost and love.

We'll be relaxing today and then having some friends over to grill out this afternoon.  It will be a normal day with lots of boys playing!

My card today is using this week's Play Date Cafe Colors.  Love the patriotic color palette.  This card was popped in the mail this weekend to a great friend's (and my college roommate) daughter. Her family moved from Cincinnati about a year ago.  I received a terrifying call from her that her daughter, Lara, was going in for brain surgery to remove a tumor.  Thank the lord is was not cancerous.  Lara will be in the hospital for a few weeks and with rehab they are very hopeful that she won't have any long term effects.  So this is a quick card to let her know we're thinking of her.

On a much lighter note, I thought I'd share a few pictures of Ryan's birthday present from his Aunt Molly.  As each niece or nephew turns 15, she's treating them to a visit with her and her hubby, Mark, at their house in Chicago.  To say Ryan was excited (although a little nervous to fly by himself) would be an understatement. He got to pick what they would do for the long weekend.  First up was a Cubs game on Thursday night.  Friday was a trip to the art museum.  Saturday a bike ride down the lake with Uncle Mark and in the evening, they went to see Jersey Boys.  In his own words..."AMAZING!"  Thanks Molly...you are simply the best!

Gorgeous Lynn I love your card and the thoughtful reason you made it. I am so glad Lara's tumor was not cancerous, cancer is such a horrible thing. Also what a wonderful tradition Aunt Molly has, Chicago is a fun city and it seems that he is doing so many fun things. Ryan is the same age my son was the first time he flew alone to Newfoundland for rugby.

There you go again with that fab stamping-it looks so simple but I know it isn't!

Oh I bet Lara will love this card - so young and trendy! I hope that her road to recovery is a straight-forward one - I'll keep her in my thoughts.
Looks like Ryan had a fabulous time in Chicago too! I swear each time you post a pic of him he gets taller! LOL!

Oh, my goodness! I hope and pray that all turns out well for her. Your card is just perfect for the color story! LOVE those little splatters! Thanks so much for playing along with us this week at The Play Date Cafe!

And what a fun trip for Ryan! I know times are different now, but I was only thirteen, when I flew by myself for the first time. And I was in charge of my little brother and sister, too. We were meeting my parents in California, and I remember being terrified. I bet all the fun made up for it, for him, though ;). Hugs!

A lovely card for Lara! Nice to hear the surgery went well and there are no cancerous cells have been found.

Happy belated birthday, Ryan! Looks like you've had a wonderful time in Chicago! I think our 15 years old son would like to do the same trip (-: He wants to go to America so badly (-;

Greetings from The Netherlands,

Big love and well wishes for Lara. How scary but glad to hear that the prognosis is good. Your sweet and cheery card will no doubt be greatly appreciated. :)

And what a fantastic gift for the nieces and nephews! Such a great way to strengthen family bonds and for the kids to stretch their wings on their own. Looks like Ryan had a ball!
