Home Decor Projects

Hi there, this morning I'm off with my sister-in-laws and a few girlfriends for our annual scrapbooking weekend.  We'll be at a cabin on the lake crafting away...having lots of yummy meals made for us...probably gaining about 10 pounds in three days...but having a great time!  But, before I leave I wanted to share a couple of home decor projects I've done lately.  My mother-in-law had each of the boys silhouettes done when they were three years old.  I've had them up in our room, but not prominently displayed.  A couple of weeks ago, I changed them up quite a bit.  I used some Basic Grey paper and matted them on burlap and a black frame. Here's a close up of one of them.  Not the best photos, but you get the feel of what they look like.

Then, I also did a second project.  I decided to decorate a fall candle.  I added some eyelets, twine and stamped leave images on canvas using a few distress inks.  The eyelets aren't even, but I love the way it turned out.
Here's the new candle with a few other pieces on our mantel.
So what do you think?  Have you done any crafty home decor projects lately. Mine stick to my CAS style...I'd love to hear about yours!

Just fantastic-what a lovely idea with the boys frames. I love candles and this is such a good idea for adding some glamour to your home. I haven't tried anything like this before but perhaps should give it a go.

Aha! I think I've heard about that candle. ;) It turned out sooo cute! I love the idea of the eyelets pressed into the wax. Must try. No home decor projects at the moment, but with the holidays coming up, there are sure to be a few on the agenda. Thanks for the inspiration!

You are amazing! Love your one of a kind frames of your boys. I so love the uniqueness of them and they can't be bought. The candle is also very cool and I would have never dreamed of using eyelets.
Right now I am spray painting (a' la Becky Higgins) an old silver tiered fruit basket to match my kitchen decor. I've got it sanded and primed, but it has been too windy to put on the final coat of color. I also am going to spray paint some cheapo dollar mini frames I purchased at Michael's and frame the scripture verses from the New Mercies set I won from you. (I so love that set!).

I really haven't ventured into home decor at all. I just admired everyone else's creations for now! The silhouettes of the boys are gorgeous and I love how you matted them on the burlap. The candle is fabulous! Love the eyelets. Did you just stick them into the wax? And your rocked and rolled leaves are perfect. :)

I squealed when I saw the close up of one of the silhouettes. They are adorable!! I wish I could see the details of all four and try to spot the subtle differences. What a great idea. Your candle is gorgeous, too!

These projects are fantastic, Lynn! But I especially LOVE those silhouettes! What a precious way to memorialize your handsome boys! I just got silhouette stamps from Jenni Bowlin and put them to work with the MTME color story! LOVE the results! Now, you've inspired me to play with those stamps again!
