So Proud!

To say that my heart is swelling with pride this morning would be a big understatement.  Ryan tried out for the middle school show choir this week and he made it!  If you would have told me last Saturday that he would have been in the show choir I would have looked at you like you were crazy.  But...he did it!  He learned a dance, stood in front of 100 of his classmates, got out of his comfort zone and tried out!  I am so, so proud...my heart is overflowing for him.

Now...I also need to be honest about this week.  When he came home Monday from school and said he wanted to do it, we were very skeptical.  Not sure if he was doing it for the right reasons (maybe thinking he wanted to do it because of the cute girls that were also trying out).  I had him make a list of why he wanted to do it.  And let me tell you, his list was fabulous.  He listed things like wanting to have more activities than baseball, being confident in front of others, showing his younger brothers examples of things they can be involved with when they're older.  Despite that the yelling that may have occurred due the huge time commitment and our not being sure it was for the right reasons he sold us...and it is a learning experience for us as parents.

I never would have had the confidence to do what he did.  So...now the fun begins...6:50 am practices every morning, six weekend shows/competitions.  I can't wait to see him on stage!
And...isn't my card above fitting for this week's CAS-ual Friday's challenge?  I've had this card made for a long time...and today is the perfect day to share it.  Happy Saturday everyone.

And PS...the apple doesn't really fall to far from the tree...Pat was in show choir in college :).

Wow!!! That is fantastic!!! And even more wonderful are the reasons he came up with!!! Very good persuasive arguement...I see law in his future!! LOL Tell him congrats from me :D Had to laugh at your ps...so I guess you had to be supportive because Dad did it! lol...and if it's his passion, it will work out :) This is the perfect card to mark this special day :) LOVE that quote!! I'm off to finish a card that's been sitting on my desk for 2 days...think I'll change the sentiment, though :) Hugs!!

What an amazing story! Too funny about him trying out for the cute girls. My husband keeps saying he hopes Damian is musical like I am just to get the girls. LOL Congratulations to Ryan!! It's so sweet that he wants to set an example for his brothers. I used to have all my orchestra practices at that time, too. Good luck! I know it will be so rewarding for all of you. Your card is simply gorgeous and so perfect for the occasion.
