Staying Home

I was getting my nails done this past weekend...yes it was wonderful to have both my toes and fingers pampered and was chatting with my nail tech.  Somehow it came up that Pat stays home with the boys and I work full time.  She made it perfectly clear that she didn't respect men that stay home with their children.  I had to chuckle.  She doesn't know my husband.  He is simply the best.  I am a big advocate that if you can afford to have one parent home with your children...stay home with them.  Not everyone can have a parent home and we are blessed that Pat can.   He is loving, fun, strict and compassionate all rolled into one.

Now...onto my card...which has nothing to do with my chit chat.  I didn't get to play along with the last Embellish Challenge, but I've missed them and wanted to play along with the current one.   Used up the bits and pieces from my Crate Paper Restoration Collection.  The card feels a bit lopsided to me...but it will work really well for a male thank you note!  Hope you like it.

What a fun treatment for a birdcage. Love the dark background too.

I LOVE this card - those buttons are perfect and that little cage hanging from them is spectacular. Isn't it funny how differently people view the role of a man and woman? I bet having your husband home with the kids helps you as a mom because he understands how much work goes into being one. You've got a great thing going on! :)

Not lopsided at all, Lynn! Love the sweet birdcage! I agree with you. . .I would LOVE to have stayed home with my children!

oh, wow!! Lynn, this is perfect for the challenge...I think that strong horizontal line keeps the bird cage balanced...I had to laugh at that comment too...I had a P/T interview yesterday with a SAHD whose wife is a lawyer and then have 5 kids!! Works for them...we are -15 (C) and -26 with the wind chill...I'm thinking it's an "in" day and not a flipflop in sight! LOL ;)

Most definitely not lop-sided methinks - that rounded corner balances it all perfectly! Great take on that challenge and bonus for making a guy card too ;D
I most definitely think it's great when a parent can stay home with the kids - no matter whether it's the dad or the mum (mom)! I was lucky to have my mum around at home and I just know I benefited from it so much!

Lynn, this is beautiful and I certainly don't see any lop-sidedness! You're so lucky that Pat says home with the boys. It's so worth having one parent at home while the kids are growing up! Little does your nail tech know.

Love that little birdcage hanging from twine! This is such a rich color scheme and you have done it well! I think it's great that Pat stays home with the boys....it just doesn't work here at our house for one to stay home but that is one reason that I cut my days down to 3 days a week so that I could spend more time with my kids.

Of course I love the card, but what I was more struck by in this post is the audicity of your nail technician! On one hand it's great when people feel free to speak their minds, but on the other I sometimes can't believe what people presume or judge on without having full knowledge. It can be dad vs mom staying home or mom staying home vs mom working outside the home...if it works for your family, that should be good! You are blessed to have a great husband and an exceptional father in Pat!
