I have a senior...

{Ryan - 18 - from our vacation}

A new school year is upon us and it is hard to believe that it is Ryan's senior year. Time is flying by.  I find myself with thoughts of next summer when we'll be backing up to take him off to college.  A wide arrange of emotions go through my head, excitement, sadness, pride, nerves and most of all love.  I'm proud of the young man he is and will be.  Excited for what the future holds for him.  Encouraging him to cherish today as he looks forward to tomorrow.  So...to send him off to the start of his senior year (this week he starts his final year of show choir and is a senior leader for the freshman orientation), I wanted to make a card for him; encouraging him to be plan ahead, enjoy each day, cherish it, work hard and never forget the value of family.  Most of all...a message that will always be the same no matter what stage of life:  my love for him. Be you...dream big...my beautiful boy.

So here's his card; being entered over in the One Layer Simplicity Challenge.

{Ryan and I from our vacation...love his smile}

They grow up so fast. And being the parent that you are, he's growing up right. Be confident mommy. He'll do just fine! And speaking of "fine," that's exactly what your card is...really fine. He'll love it, and the wonderful message it conveys. Congrats to Ryan on the start of his senior year, and to you for raising a fine young man! Bev

What a lovely post - they grow up so darn fast, but as you say, it's exciting, challenging and wonderful to relearn the world through their eyes! Thanks for joining us at OLS!

Aww! This makes me all emotional - for you, and for me (in anticipation)! 18 and in senior year, adulthood and the rest of his life ahead of him! My eldest is about to turn 13. She will turn 18 at the end of her senior year. Time flies by so quickly, it's so important to cherish these moments. I love Ryan's smile, too!
