Happy Birthday Mum & Casual Fridays 56: Sweet Spot

Happy Friday!  I must start the day by wishing my wonderful Mum a very happy birthday today!  My family will be celebrating with her tonight.  Looking forward to a very nice cookout and some family time to share her special day!  Of course, I can't share her card until at least tomorrow as she is a faithful blog reader.  I love you Mum!! xoxo

Now...it's Friday so it is time for another CAS-ual Fridays Challenge.  Our challenge this week is to use polka dots on your card and is sponsored by the Denami Design.  We all received some adorable sentiment stamps to work with for our cards.

I actually made two cards for the challenge this week.  At first, I made a one layer card with a variety of polka dots.  I love the bright color combo, but then thought...hmmm...you've been making a lot of cards like this lately...change it up!
So then, I made this card using some of my favorite My Mind's Eye papers. I'm trying to use up some of my patterned paper and like this nice simple design.  Do you have a favorite?  I'd love to hear your thoughts and of course, I'd really love for you to come play with us over at CAS-ual Fridays!

I do like the one layer card, but the second card looks warmer somehow. Difficult to say, but I'm a patterned paper lover at heart.

Happy Birthday to your Mum from a fellow Gemini :0)
Fabulous cards....don't ask me to choose!... The dots are so clean and simple but I love how you've used strips of patterned paper on your second card too.
Have a great celebration this evening :0)

Both the cards are awesome, Lynn! I love the first one. The dots are so well placed. Love it.
My favourite paper is also My Mind's Eye! They seem to make the most beautiful pattern papers. Second on the list is Echo Park. I love their Dots and Stripes paper pads:) Have a great weekend!

I like them both, Lynn! The first one looks like the bubbles in a champagne glass and the second one is so cute with the patterned paper strips. Happy birthday to your mom!

When I saw your card last night on the CAS-ual Fridays blog, I said to myself, "oh, that is so pretty!" I love the way you used that pretty paper, Lynn! Your first card is wonderful too, and so fun! :)

while I like your CAS cards-I love DP & the 2nd one is my fav!

I've just discovered a new technique you might want to give a try.

Example: take the 2nd card after you attach you DP & run it thru an embossing folder. The papers get squished together & it looks so cool! Then you attach it to a base & add embellishments.

I love both cards, Lynn! But I am a stamper at heart, so I have to say that I love the first one a bit more simply because the placements of the colors and circles are perfect in every way!

oh, I love both for different reasons! The first cheery card reminds me of champagne bubbles!! LOL And I just love the paper and ribbon on the second. Oh, enjoy the celebration tonight! And it's Friday too, what perfect timing! Hugs!

I really like your stamped dots and the patterned paper on the second card. I like the mixture of handwriting and text on the sentiment of your first card.

Happy belated birthday to your mother! I really like both cards, they show the wonderful range in your card making abilities, but I have to say the pared down CAS version on the first is my favorite!
