Happy 14th Birthday Ryan

Today, my beautiful boy, Ryan, is 14.  I know I say this every year, but it is really hard to believe that he is 14.  In eighteen months, he'll have his temporary driver's license.  I'm sure that I'll blink and he'll be behind the driver's wheel.

At 14, a few things have changed since last year.
  • He's taller than me (not saying much since I'm only 5' 1"), but I think he's grown about five inches in the last year.
  • He's had his first girlfriend.  They "dated" for about eight months.  And he stated, "You ask girls out in person, not via text and you do the same if you break up.  It's important to see how the other person is feeling."  He's still my sweet, sensitive boy.
  • He's the responsible owner of a cell phone.  We've had a few hard lessons, but overall it has gone well.
  • He needs an occasional shave!
And, a few things haven't changed since last year.
  • I'm proud of the young man he is becoming.  My love for him and his brothers overwhelms me.
  • His loves are the same: baseball, baseball and more baseball.
  • I tell him I love him every day, multiple times per day.  He laughs...and ducks when I try to kiss him multiple times.
And here is his birthday card for today.  The Play Date Cafe Colors are perfect this week. His baseball uniform that he picked out is purple and gray so I'm sure he'll love the card.

yes, what a fine, handsome man he's growing into, Lynn...he looks like a perfect mix of you and Pat :) It's true they are our little boys for our whole life :) The card is perfect and I love seeing it next to the girly inspiration picture!! Fun contrast! So what are 14 year old boys wanting for their birthday? I'm thinking CASH!? Hope the weather holds up for you and all the baseball :)
